Year 7's Day in the Museum

Making the most of London's opportunities

Burns Night was a good opportunity to allow our pupils to learn more about the man behind the (oat)meal. After sampling the delights of haggis on 25th January, they heard about poet Robert Burns at Friday's lunchtime lecture. His role in 18th Century Scotland allowed the girls to learn about the Scottish Enlightenment, the Act of Union, Burns' upbringing and education, explore his poetry and learn about the tradition of a Burns Supper.

The Friday Lunchtime Lectures are organised by Assistant Head Mrs Jewell and encourage the girls to explore new ideas and learn how to present a talk. We're looking forward to hearing them talk about their own interests in the weeks ahead.
