Linda Sanders, Headmistress of The Laurels School, is a founding member and trustee of the Association for Character Education (ACE) .


The Association for Character Education was established in 2015 to respond to the growing interest in character education in Britain. It was established by a group of well-known headteachers, academics and other educationalists who recognised the desire of many schools to enhance their character education provision. ACE was founded on 18th May 2015 at a meeting in the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues at the University of Birmingham.


ACE is a not for profit membership organisation. It is a community for schools, organisations and individuals interested in character education to share expertise and practice. The organisation supports schools, teachers and other educationalists to develop and promote character education responses that enable young people and societies to flourish.


Demos Report – Character Nation


Demos is Britain’s leading cross-party think-tank who produce original research and publish original thinking. Demos have produced a report providing a series of policy recommendations for government to ensure that character development is embedded across the educational system. In the report, The Laurels is one of the five case studies used to illustrate character education in practice.
