Women Who Work

Women Who Work - In addition to careers and study skills, this also addresses the challenges and opportunities of the work environment today and the virtues needed to thrive and succeed.

We offer an innovative careers programme throughout school, aligned to pupils’ ages and educational stage.

Our commitment to early skills development sets us apart, ensuring that by the time students join our VI Form, they are already equipped with essential skills.

  • Our volunteering programmes enable students to assume responsibility in various areas, fostering empathy and a deeper understanding of societal needs.
  • Through our Learn2Succeed initiative, students become integral to our school's innovation efforts, collaborating with different departments to offer fresh perspectives on innovation. This programme also teaches them about the formal job application process and provides opportunities for international work experience.
  • Pupils in Years 10 and Year 12 are given meaningful support to prepare for Work Experience, which is offered in June each year.

Why does our careers programme make a difference?

Tailored Guidance: By providing personalised advice and support, students receive direction that aligns with their interests, strengths, and aspirations, making their learning experience more relevant and engaging.

Exposure to Real-World Scenarios: Through interactions with industry experts and company visits, students gain invaluable insights into the working world, helping them understand the practical application of their studies and the realities of different professions.

Informed Decision-Making: Regular career and university fairs and workshops equip students with the necessary information to make well-informed choices about their future education and career paths.

Motivation and Aspiration: By visualising potential future careers and understanding the steps to achieve them, students are more motivated in their studies, understanding the importance and relevance of their education in achieving their goals.

Preparation for Higher Education and Employment: With tools like UNIFROG and UCAS, students are better prepared for the demands of higher education applications and job market expectations, enhancing their chances of success in their chosen fields.

Building Confidence and Skills: Exposure to a variety of industries and professionals helps students build confidence and develop a range of soft skills, such as communication, networking, and critical thinking, which are crucial for both academic and career success.

Early Career Planning: Starting career planning early helps students set achievable goals, develop a clear path for their education and career, and reduce anxiety about the future, ensuring a more focused and purposeful approach to their studies and career choices.

The programme is further extended in the Sixth Form. Read more about the careers programme provision in the Sixth Form here.
